Case Studies from My Amazon Copywriting Portfolio
1. ALORVA
This brand felt that it had strong products and that it could raise conversions to help reduce PPC ACoS and improve organic rank for its main keywords. We were discussing the possibility of me managing their PPC after disappointing results from an American agency, which also wrote the content in the first image below.
I took a couple of days to assess their content, and the A+ header module below is a good reflection of it. While it does better than many on Amazon, it fails to get the main features and benefits across and compel buyers to purchase. It doesn't create a sense of urgency or connect with buyer emotions...

A "non-itchy comfortable carrying strap that is adjustable" isn't, I would argue, a key feature a buyer is looking for when shopping for a fireproof bag for use in emergencies.
I wrote the following content using subtle hypnotic techniques to right the wrongs mentioned above, and to help create a deeper sense of connection to the brand.

The content was structured to read like a marketing email using short sentences that build in length to guide the reader to the next piece of content. There was an immediate and significant improvement in sales.
2. EASYOLOGY
This leading pet brand was already very successful on Amazon, with some of its products being No. 1 in their category. I wrote the following content while the Lead Copywriter for KenjiROI, a Canadian Amazon agency.
Easyology wanted to create a stronger voice for their EBC, and were open to different ideas, so I settled on two approaches: a regular style selling features and benefits, and a fun voice for their cat play products. I chose to write from the position of the cat. Here are some of the headers from their EBC. I would personally have chosen a different font width.
The customer loved the new content and saw their product rocket in sales almost overnight.



3. HAPARI Swimwear
This example shows how a plain description and bland bullets can't save one of the biggest brands in its category. An 8-figure seller on their website yet languishing nowhere on Amazon. It took around a week to decide on the style of written content for around twenty products.
I researched social media groups to understand what women were looking for from swimwear, and I reviewed several glossy magazines/websites aimed at young women to get a sense of the creative language they are used to reading. I saw that the best editorials used eloquent wording and poetic imagery that elevated their publications. I chose to do the same for HAPARI.

4. Golf Alignment Rods
Around six years ago, this seller contacted me as they weren't making sales of this specially designed item, even with advertising.
I had played golf and heard of alignment rods, but I couldn't understand what was special about these. The original text sold the benefits and appealed to emotional triggers, but completely failed to explain how it made the difference.
I took a technical approach to answer that issue and suggested to my client that they alter their images to support the bullets (which they did not do), even so, the changes made an instant impact to sales...

PAINT BRUSH SET
Another older listing update for a product that is still selling. I have chosen to include this product for one reason: it had a great brand story that simply wasn't being told, and when people read it, it sold like crazy.
The company wanted to present itself as being different from the bigger brands.
This meant that the commonly accepted sweet spot for bullet length (130-180 characters) had to be ditched. The difference needed to be sold or the whole ethos behind the product would be lost - and that's what had been happening.
A problem many artists experienced was spending money on things they didn't really need. By following big business marketing hype, or being enticed into buying a full set of brushes they didn't require, this seller carefully selected precisely what an artist needs for a given medium.
Opening Content for EBC/A+
It's easy to feel overwhelmed with such a huge variety of paintbrushes on the market, and with prices varying dramatically. [Brand’s] synthetic watercolor brushes are tried and tested by international watercolorists and silk painters and thoughtfully selected so you can be sure to have the right brushes and not waste money buying the wrong materials.
Professional artist and co-founder of [Brand], [her Name], designed a set of watercolor paintbrushes for experienced artists with a mix of shapes and sizes specifically for water-based media. In 2020, I was asked to write compelling taglines & content for Sponsored Brand Banner Ads and to manage them in Campaign Manager (they ran an in-house team for regular advertising).

A BABY COMFORTER
For this product, I recreated the bullet points as the original ones were general to all types of comforters, and failed to sell the specifics of this item. I also got in touch with a Graphic Designer I know and provided a Creative Direction document for a branding refresh, and better written content for the images.




SOURDOUGH STARTER KIT
This is a recently launched product for one of my PPC clients. I felt that the original bullets were the weakest part of the listing, as they weren't describing anything specific to this product - a common problem I see on Amazon is people selling general features and benefits that can appeal to competitors too.


INFRARED PORTABLE SAUNA
A newly launched product for one of my PPC clients. This sauna had a lot of competition so it was vital that we made its specific features quickly available to the shopper. I created a title to immediately highlight the main differentiator. The word "large" was not in my title twice but has been added by the seller when changing a keyword at the start. The bullets follow after the title.



BABY LOUNGER
Another example of tweaks to the title and bullets of a product while maintaining the original A+ content. This saw an instant improvement in sales with these simple changes. I used a double-dash in the title to help split apart the key features of the product which drove more clicks.
