Good News for Amazon Sellers...

Donald Trump, President of the USA, has today claimed a "total reset" in relations with China after both countries agreed to reduce tariffs on goods for 90 days.

"Both sides are set to slash tariffs by 115% starting from Wednesday - with US tariffs on Chinese products falling to 30% and China's reciprocal tariffs on the US falling to 10%." - https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cedy09wq25qt

The BBC website continued to say...

"The US president described relations between the two countries as "very good" and said he did not expect US tariffs on Chinese imports to return to 145% after pause.
In Beijing, though, the mood is more sombre with Chinese businesses telling the BBC they expect more tariffs in the future."

I'm sure this news will relieve a lot of Amazon sellers.

On a personal note, I began talking to my Chinese contacts a few months ago due to concerns about the expected Chinese invasion of Taiwan and how this would impact relations with the US. It seems that this won't happen, thankfully. Yet I was worried about Amazon sellers buying from China, having their eggs in one basket. I had a bad feeling about things, and was then shocked to hear about Trump's sudden tariff increases.

It shows that sometimes, when something doesn't make sense, we must give it time to sort itself out. It can be a warning to us all to have a plan B. While it seems China and the US will agree on a long-term solution, it is a stark reminder not to rely wholly on one source. Spread your risks, people, and look to buy different products from alternative sources, and/or purchase some USA-made items if you sell to Amazon.com.

It might be that the American buyer seeks products made on home soil for a while if this is an important issue in their consciousness but I expect things to get back to normal.

You have 90-days of agreed lower tariffs. Order stock for 2025 with an eye on a possible increase in tariffs in August/September.

Best of luck! Contact me if you have any questions. I'm in a lot of social media groups specifically about this subject.
