The Full Question:
How do Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) affect search results, and does that impact the keywords we should choose?
The Answer:
Yes, in recent years Amazon has been trying to deliver more meaningful results to shoppers. Traditionally, sellers have had to target specific keywords in their listing, back end, or ad campaigns, to match against the search terms shoppers have been using.
The problem with targeting keywords is that a product listing with many keywords in it bears no reflection on how well it will sell once a person is viewing its page. As Amazon lives or dies based on its ability to retrieve products that will sell, it has begun to steer away from keyword reliance when answering a search query.
By using ML and AI, the algorithm can deliver improved results for more question-related searches.
For example, if you are selling a product to store eggs, you should consider targeting keywords in your ad campaigns such as "where to store eggs" and "where to put eggs on the table."
To find these search queries, you can look at your search term reports and social media sites such as Reddit, Quora, and Facebook to find common questions you might target.
If you get ahead of the game you might be able to take advantage of lower CPC and better ACoS from these words and rank better for them before your competitors do.
